Under oars only this time, as we were exploring the narrow Elkhorn Slough on a windless
morning. I believe the Searaven's mast would not clear the bridge
anyway. We got up incredibly early, and even with the 1hr 20min
drive from Sunnyvale we were on the water before 9:00, well before the
kayakers and pontoon boats. This area is all a wildlife preserve,
and is must have been mating season as we saw a mob of at leat
two dozen sea otters near the harbor mouth.
